4 Days Road Trip in Melbourne – Great Ocean Road

Day 1 & 2 – Melbourne

 

In Melbourne, it is a must to visit the Flinders Street Station, the first station in Australia. In addition, there are other attractions such as Carlton Gardens, Royal Arcade, Hoisler Ln and Queen Victoria Market. If you are a tennis fan, you can go to the Rod Laver Arena and watch a series of Australia Open. Otherwise, it is recommended to go to the Shrine of Remembrance which is the site of annual observances of ANZAC Day (25 April) and Remembrance Day (11 November).

Day 3 – Cape Otway

 

The Great Ocean Road begins at Torquay which is 1 hour 18 mins drive away (104km) from Melbourne. While driving in Great Ocean Road, you can do a rest stop in Anglesea Golf Club. The golf club is an unique place where hundreds of Kangaroos are free to roam around. After that, go to the Great Ocean Road Memorial Arch and take a photo/selfie with the Great Ocean Road signage. Thereafter, you can make your way down to Teddy’s lookout and enjoy the breath taking view of the Great Ocean Road and the coast area.

Be careful of your safety when you are in Anglesea Golf Club. The Kangaroos look fierce and untamed!

Day 4 – Warrnambool

 

After resting in Cape Otway, continue the 2nd part of the Great Ocean Road journey to Warrnambool. The most famous attractions along the way are Twelve Apostles and Loch Ard Gorge.

 Try to visit the Twelve Apostles during sunrise or sunset for optimal scenic view.

Ending Remarks

 

It is a bit rush to cover Melbourne and Great Ocean Road within 4 days. There are certainly more attractions to see/do in both places. If you are more adventurous, there are Treetop walk/ Zipline tour in Great Ocean Road area. Otherwise, there are Brighton Bathing Boxes in Brighton Beach area and Penguin Parade in Phillip Island National Park.
